A programme to transform education within the Blackburn borough has boosted the local economy by millions. The Building Schools for the Future programme was delivered by a partnership between Blackburn with Darwen Council and Balfour Beatty.
Acme worked in partnership with Balfour Beatty to give four schools state of the art buildings and another four being remodelled.
Our main contribution to the program was working on three major High Schools within Blackburn – Witton High School, Central Blackburn High School and Pleckgate High School. We were given an empty shell and completed a full turnkey project including the design and layout of the kitchen, ceilings and walls, ventilation and the installation of all catering equipment. We also worked on remodelling the kitchens of St Beades High School and St Silas’ Junior School.
‘Acme have worked alongside Balfour Beatty on numerous kitchen projects which have included large servery areas. All works undertaken have been carried out to very high standards with minimum disruptions and have been completed within the time scale agreed. Acme regularly liaised with ourselves with updates on design, progress and showed true professionalism from start to finish. Acme have demonstrated a high level of commitment to safety and comfortably comply within our safe system of works. We are currently working with Acme on similar projects safe in the knowledge that they too will be a complete success’.
